CITY HONORS SCHOOL and OLMSTED MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL will again offer a combined admissions testing during the fall of 2014 for students seeking entrance for the 2014-2015 school year.Testing for Olmsted #156 and City Honors will take place at Olmsted at Kensington (#156) 319 Suffolk St, Buffalo, 14215

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18

City Honors School and Olmsted #156 (Grade 5 ONLY)  8:00 AM

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25

City Honors (Grade 9 ONLY) 8AM

Olmsted #156 (Grades 9 – 12 )8AM

City Honors and Olmsted #156 (Grades 6-8) 12PM

MAKE- UP TESTING ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8

City Honors and Olmsted #156 (Grades 5-6 make-up test) 8AM

City Honors (7-9 make-up test) 12PM

Olmsted #156 (7-12 make-up test) 12PM

Admission Criteria for 2015-2016 School Year

Frederick Law Olmsted School at Kensington is looking for students who demonstrate Above Average Academic Ability, Creative and Critical Thinking Skills, and Task Commitment (perseverance).

For Grades 5-8:

*Students currently enrolled in Olmsted Elementary School will  automatically “float” over to the Frederick Law Olmsted School at Kensington.

*Students new to the Olmsted program in grades 5-8 are required to take the entrance exam. Students will be considered for admission to Olmsted at Kensington based on the following:

 

  • Cognitive Abilities Assessment
  • NYS ELA Assessment
  • NYS Math Assessment
  • Grades
  • Teacher inventory: Academic Ability, Creativity, Task Commitment
  • Parent Inventory: Academic Ability, Creativity, Task Commitment

For Grades 9-12:

*Students currently enrolled at the Frederick Law Olmsted School at Kensington will be accepted into grade 9 if:

-They have an average of 85 or higher on the previous year’s  report card

*Students new to the Olmsted High School program must take the entrance exam. Students will be considered for admission based upon the following:

  • Cognitive Abilities Assessment
  • NYS ELA Assessment
  • NYS Math Assessment
  • Grades
  • Teacher inventory: Academic Ability, Creativity, Task Commitment
  • Parent Inventory: Academic Ability, Creativity, Task Commitment

After all testing has been completed, the Olmsted Folder Review Committee will meet to review all the information in each child’s folder.
