High School is a very exciting time as students not only work toward graduation, but also begin the road to college and beyond. As students embark on this journey, the entire Olmsted community will be here to ensure that each student’s high school experience is the best it can be.
These are some of the programs and courses Olmsted offers its students:
-Green Engineering in collaboration with Alfred University
-AP Courses-As the high school expands, a complement of AP courses will be offered to students in the high school. Students will have the opportunity to select those AP courses they wish to take, with the opportunity to receive college credit, depending on their pathway of learning. All students will be required to take the AP English Composition.
-Methods of Inquiry and Design, a half year course which explores methods of inquiry and tools to aid in innovation. Creativity takes many forms and is a life skill which will be used in the Arts, Humanities and Sciences. This course is the foundation for their future work at Olmsted in preparation for a flexible and productive life.
-Foreign Language- including Mandarin Chinese, French and Spanish
-Music-including Band, Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra and Chorus
-Art- including 2D and 3D projects
-Olmsted Scholars Program- This is a student initiated project that integrates the 21st century skills in helping solve real life problems or situations. Students will work with mentors to design a relevant project which will add to the field of study they choose to explore. The project will be assessed by professionals in the particular field of study. Students will complete the project in their junior and senior year.
