It is my pleasure to welcome you back for the new school year. I know my fellow administrators as well as the entire Olmsted school staff also welcome you back as we begin another new school year. Summer flew by, but I hope you had the opportunity to rest and relax with your family and friends.
School begins on Tuesday September 5th. As you know Buffalo schools have a longer school day this year. At Olmsted, doors open at 7:55 a.m. and dismissal begins after the last class at 2:50 p.m. Students in grades 5-8 ride the yellow bus and high school students take the Metro bus. Staff is always stationed outside and throughout the building to assist students as they make their way to their homerooms, their lockers, and their bus.
The following individuals have joined the Olmsted #156 team this year:
Amanda Anken – Special Education
Tracie Batcho – Business
Maureen England – School Counselor
Kevin Fritz – Math
Christopher Gelsomino – Grade 6
Melissa Jenkins – Science
Allison Leberer – SST Chair
Jamene Kosowski – Title I Math
Monica Stankiewicz – Vocal Music
Elizabeth Wells – Title I Reading
Kimberly Zaffram – Dual Language – Spanish
I know parents spend a great deal of money on school supplies. In order to help us find the owners of lost items please make sure your child’s name is on their folders and notebooks as well as book bags.
Parents are a necessary part of our school program. Collaboration between home and school is vital for a child to succeed academically and socially. A Meet the Teacher Night is scheduled for September. More information will be given out next week.
Once again, welcome back for the new school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 816.4330.
